The Arizona men’s golf team finished the opening day of the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in 12th place with a total of 608 (+48).
The Wildcats shot 303 (+23) in Monday’s opening round and carded a 305 (+25) in the afternoon session.
“Today was a very frustrating day for us, but this team is learning to fight,” UA head coach Jim Anderson said. “We’ve had guys struggle at times, but it affected everyone today and made for a challenging day. We’ll see what kind of punch we can bring tomorrow and how we can use this experience to get better as a team.”
Senior Erik Oja was the ‘Cats top performer over the first 36 holes at Old Overton, finishing Monday in a tie for 27th with a total of 146 (+6). Senior Benson Liu and junior Tucker Wadkins finished the day tied for 57th with totals of 156 (+16), while junior Alex McMahon and senior Christian Colegrove wrapped up Monday in a tie for 59th with scores of 158 (+18).Live results for the final round of the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate will be available via golfstatresults.com on Tuesday.
