Round two brings European lead but an Oja defeat

WALTON-ON-THE-HILL, ENGLAND.Europe claimed the final two matches of the four-ball session to take a 5.5-4.5 lead at the Palmer Cup at Walton Heath Golf Club.

The United States claimed the first match when Trey Mullinax and Robby Shelton defeated Ricardo Gouveia and former UA golfer Erik Oja, 4 and 3.

 Europe won three straight holes to surge ahead, 2-up. Team USA cut the lead to 1-down with a birdie at No. 17 but both sides parred No. 18 to give Europe the 1-up victory.

The third round single matches tee off at 12 Friday morning. Oja will play Wyndham Clark of team USA for the fifth match of the third round.
