NORMAN, Okla. The University of Arizona men’s golf team was among a select group of collegiate programs honored with the Golf Coaches Association of America’s (GCAA) Team Academic Award on Wednesday.

A total of 141 teams across all NCAA divisions, NAIA and NJCAA were recognized as having collective grade-point averages of 3.00 or higher, a new high in the five-year existence of the award.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, an institution must submit GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.

Last week, rising senior Alex McMahon and recently graduated Erik Oja were honored by the GCAA as All-America Scholars. Student-athletes must carry a minimum GPA of 3.2 and meet other on and off-course requirements to garner those honors.

Both McMahon and Oja, along with departed seniors Benson Liu and Christian Colegrove, earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors earlier this spring in what has been a productive year in the classroom for Anderson’s squad.
