Rising senior Alex McMahon won the 90th Arizona State Amateur Championship Saturday morning at Desert Highlands Golf Club.

After 36 holes of stroke play qualifying McMahon earned the 1st seed honor with a six under par 138 (72-66) advancing to the final round with a matchup against Michael Martin where McMahon took the victory by three holes with two to play.

“This is a really proud moment for me,” McMahon said. “It’s a sign that I’m on the right track and getting better. I played the same tournament last year and lost in the third round. So to go in turn and turn it around like that is a tribute to how much I’ve progressed. I’m really proud of how I played this whole week.”
