TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona concluded their appearance in the 2013 Larry Easley Memorial Classic on Saturday, hosted by UNLV.
Senior Mario Urquidi and sophomore Matt Dunn lost their matches on the day, eliminating them from further contention.
“The guys faced some tough competition today,” said head coach Tad Berkowitz. “We competed well although our opponents were just a little tougher in the end.”
Dunn and Urquidi faced Daniel Cochrane and Dante Saleh of Auburn in the doubles quarterfinal round, but lost in an extended match, 8-7(4).
Urquidi lost to Denys Pume of UNLV 6-4, 6-3 and Dunn lost to Idaho’s Artemly Nikitin 6-3, 6-3.
The Cats will wrap up their fall slate with the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic in Sarasota, Fla., running Friday Nov. 8 thru Sunday Nov.10.
