TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Women’s tennis (7-0) will take their first road trip of the season to Lubbock, Texas to take on No. 19 Texas Tech (5-1) on Friday Deb. 14 at 2:30 p.m. and Georgia State (2-3) on Saturday Feb. 15 at noon. Both matches will take place at the McLeod Tennis Center.
Arizona is having their best start in the last seven seasons with a 7-0 start. The Cats have only lost one point all season.
Last weekend the Cats swept all three matches, defeating Grand Canyon, 4-0, UTEP, 5-0, and Sacramento State, 4-0.
The doubles teams continue to be a strong point for the Cats as they have only lost one doubles match all season. All three pairings, sophomore Shayne Austin with senior Lacey Smyth, senior Akilah James with freshman Lauren Marker, and seniors Kim Stubbe with Susan Mc Rann, are all setting the tone early in matches.
Texas Tech will be the first big test for the Cats as they are the first of four ranked opponents in the non-conference schedule.
Georgia State is coming off a tough weekend after losing to two top-ranked opponents in Tulsa and Purdue, who the Wildcats will challenge later this season.
