By: Arizona Athletics
Release: December 18, 2013

TUCSON, Ariz. – After having a breakout 2013 campaign, Arizona junior outside hitter Madi Kingdon was named to the AVCA Honorable Mention All-America Team, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced on Wednesday. Kingdon is the first member of the Wildcats to earn All-America honors since Kim Glass (First-Team) and Jennifer Abernathy (Third-Team) were named to the team in 2005.

Kingdon continues to add to her long list of accomplishments after she was just named AVCA All-Region last week. She finished the season with 508 kills on the season – the sixth most in Arizona single-season history. In addition, she now has 1,312 kills for her career – already sixth on the school’s all-time kills list with still another season to go.

For the season, Kingdon recorded 378 digs, 79 blocks and 36 service aces to go along with her 508 kills. She finished first in the Pac-12 in points, while ranking third in kills and fourth in service aces. Meanwhile, she recorded 16 double-doubles on the year, which ranked second on the team. She was also named to the All-Pac-12 Team earlier this month.

The junior from Phoenix was also named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week on two separate occasions this year, while also being named Arizona Desert Classic Tournament MVP and Wildcat Classic Tournament MVP. She also earned all-tournament honors at the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Volleyball Challenge in Honolulu, Hawaii.
