TUCSON, Ariz. – Senior outside hitter Madi Kingdon was named the Pac-12’s Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Kingdon earned tournament MVP honors as she led Arizona to an undefeated weekend at the Green Bay Tournament. Kingdon led the Wildcats with 64 kills while hitting .361 in Arizona’s sweep of the three games. Her two 20-plus-kill efforts (23 vs. South Dakota and 23 vs. Kansas State) were her 16th and 17th such accomplishment in her career, moving her into fourth place all-time at Arizona for 20-plus-kill matches.
In addition to her impressive offensive weekend, Kingdon also supplied defense as well, picking up two double-digit-dig matches, giving her her first two double-doubles of the season. The senior added eight blocks and four service aces, helping her to an average of 7.45 points per game.
Kingdon fell five kills shy of her career mark on two occasions, collecting 23 kills both against South Dakota and Kansas State, the latter of which came in just a three-set match.
It is Kingdon’s second weekly honor and Arizona’s 33rd overall.
Arizona will be back in action on Friday, Sep. 5 when it hosts the Arizona Invitational. The Cats take on Alabama State (10:30 a.m.) and Loyola Chicago (7:00 p.m.) on Friday before finishing up the tournament on Saturday against Cal State Northridge (6:00 p.m.). It will be the first event in McKale Center since the arena's renovation.
