Steady light rainfall over in the early afternoon has forced the University of Arizona baseball program to push its start time to 2:30 p.m. today. The Wildcats are hosting Seton Hall in the second game of a three-game series at Hi Corbett Field.

The field has been covered with a tarp all morning, but was being pulled shortly after 1:30 p.m. local time. The 30-minute delay to the start of the game will allow the grounds crew ample time to prepare the field.

Today’s game was originally scheduled for 6 p.m., but UA officials on Thursday moved the game to 2 p.m. due to the impending weather forecast. Occasional showers have passed over the area throughout the day Saturday, and the forecast includes high precipitation chances through this evening. However, no significant rain accumulation has occurred to the field throughout the day.

Seton Hall won the opening game of the series Friday night by a score of 9-1. Right-hander Cody Hamlin (2-0, 1.12) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Wildcats. The Pirates will counter with left-hander Anthony Elia (1-1, 2.25).

Seton Hall ace Josh Prevost dominated on the mound and designated hitter Tyler Boyd delivered a three-run triple in the opening inning to propel the Pirates to a series-opening 9-1 victory over the University of Arizona baseball team on Friday night at Hi Corbett Field. Prevost (W, 3-0) carried a perfect game into the fifth and scattered five hits over eight strong innings. He surrendred just a lone run in the fifth inning and otherwise racked up seven strikeouts and did not issue a walk.Seton Hall (5-2) scored its four first-inning runs on five hits. Consecutive one-out singles by Chris Seldon, Kyle Grimm and Sal Ammunziata loaded the bases for Boyd, whose triple to right field effectively was the game-winner. D.J. Ruhlman later drove in Boyd for the fourth run.
