Paced by Ben Wetzler’s dominant pitching and Dylan Davis’ five runs batted in, the seventh-ranked Oregon State baseball team cruised to a series-opening victory as it defeated host Arizona, 11-2, Friday evening at Hi Corbett Field. Wetzler (W, 5-0) remained perfect on the season as he shut out the Wildcats over 7.1 innings. The veteran lefty allowed just two hits, but did walk four while striking out five. Oregon State gave Wetzler just about all the run support he needed with a two-run first inning off Wildcat starter James Farris. Farris (L, 4-2) suffered just his second loss of the season in 7.1 innings on the mound. He was charged for seven earned runs and surrendered 13 hits, while striking out six and walking a pair – both intentional.
Game 2: RHP Andrew Moore (2-1, 1.27) vs. RHP Cody Hamlin (3-2, 2.60)
Game 3: LHP Jace Fry (4-1, 2.08) vs. RHP Austin Schnabel (0-3, 7.16)
