Swimming Finishes off Impressive Weekend in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas - The final day in Texas proved to be another good one for the Arizona Swim team. The men and women capped off the great weekend with another three wins with 14 all together for the invite. The Wildcats also qualified another three individuals for the NCAA Championships making that a total of 10 individuals.

Margo Geer qualified herself for the NCAA Championships in the 100 free with a time of 47.61 in the prelims this morning.

Kevin Cordes also qualified for another NCAA Championship race in the 200 breast with a time of 1:52.77.

Bonnie Brandon claimed another victory on the weekend taking home the 200 back with a time of 1:50.70 setting a new school record. She also qualified for the NCAA Championships in this event with this swim. Geer would improve on her time from the morning prelim to 47.35. She took second in the event, just being out-touched by .13 seconds.

Cordes would also improve on his time from the morning dropping to 1:49.38, just short of his American Record. He would claim the victory in the 200 breast.

Michael Meyer would add to his win total for the weekend with a victory in the 200 fly with a time of 1:43.83.

The women’s 400 free relay team finished the weekend off for the Cats by edging out the USC team for the victory. The team of Taylor Schick, Leticia Lelli, bonnie Brandon, and Margo Geer qualified for the NCAA Championships with a time of 3:14.05

The Wildcats swim team will be off for winter break and will return to the pool in January. The diving team will begin the USA Diving Nationals on Sunday Dec. 15.
