TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona men's basketball player Angelo Chol announced Wednesday that he will transfer to another school. He has not yet made a decision on which school he will attend.

Chol, a 6-foot-9, 225-pound sophomore forward from San Diego, Calif., averaged 1.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.3 blocks per game in 28 appearances (no starts) this season. He averaged 8.5 minutes per game.

"After much consideration and several conversations with both Coach Miller and my family, I have decided to transfer to another university," said Chol. "I believe this change will put me in a better situation to earn more playing time and a starting role elsewhere. I have enjoyed my time in Tucson and want to thank my teammates, coaching staff and the fans for their support."

Chol connected on 44.7 percent (21-of-47) of his field goal attempts and hit 12-of-19 (.632) attempts from the free throw line. He notched career highs of 10 points on Nov. 28 vs. Northern Arizona and eight rebounds vs. Stanford on Feb. 6. Chol logged a career-best 24 minutes in that contest vs. the Cardinal.

"I wish Angelo much success in his future," said Arizona head coach Sean Miller. "I believe that Angelo's best days as a basketball player are ahead of him. He did a tremendous job in his two years in our program both on the court and in the classroom. He is one of the finest people and nicest kids that I have ever coached."

Chol averaged 2.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game in 63 career appearances (no starts) over the last two seasons. He shot 51.7 percent from the field (61-of-118) and 66.0 percent (31-of-47) from the free throw line.

Arizona finished the 2012-13 campaign with a 27-8 record and tied for second place in the Pac-12 Conference with a 12-6 mark. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAA Tournament's West Regional semifinals for the second time in the last three seasons.
