TUCSON, Ariz. - Incoming University of Arizona freshman Aaron Gordon was selected to the USA Basketball Men's U19 World Championship team, the organization announced Monday.

Gordon was one of 12 players selected by head coach Billy Donovan will represent the United States at the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship for Men, which is slated for June 27-July 7 in Prague, Czech Republic. The roster includes eight current college players, two incoming freshmen and two high school players.

"We are proud of Aaron making the U19 National Team," said Arizona head coach Sean Miller. "It is quite an accomplishment to play for your country and compete for a gold medal. I have no doubt that this experience will be invaluable for Aaron as he transitions from high school to college basketball here at the U of A. We wish him and his team the best of luck in their quest to bring home the gold."

Gordon, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward from San Jose, Calif., averaged 21.6 points, 15.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.1 blocked shots per game as a senior this year for Archbishop Mitty High School. He appeared in both the McDonald's High School All-America Game and the Jordan Brand Classic, helping his West squad to wins in both contests. Gordon was named Most Valuable Player of the April 3 McDonald's game, tallying 24 points, eight rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes.

In addition to Gordon, Arizona had three representatives - Brandon Ashley and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson - at the U19 trials, the most for any one institution.

"We are also proud of Brandon and Rondae for being invited to and competing in the U19 training camp," said Miller. "They, too, will benefit a great deal from their recent experience and will be more prepared and motivated for our season ahead."
