ST. LOUIS University of Arizona junior guard Nick Johnson added to his All-America status on Wednesday when he was named a first-team All-American by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). The honor marked the second All-America nod for Johnson this week, both first-team accolades.

Johnson is Arizona’s second USBWA All-American in the last four years, as Derrick Williams garnered second-team honors in 2011, and its first selection to the first team since Jason Terry in 1999. He is also the lone Pac-12 player to earn All-America acclaim from the USBWA this season.

Johnson, who was named a first-team All-American by the Sporting News on Monday, leads Arizona in scoring (16.1) and ranks second on the team in assists (2.8) and steals (1.2). He is shooting 43.9 percent from the floor and 76.6 percent from the free throw line, while averaging a career-high 4.0 rebounds and posting a 1.56 assist-to-turnover ratio to help lead the Wildcats to their second regular-season Pac-12 title under head coach Sean Miller.

The Gilbert, Ariz., native has reached the 20-point mark a team-high 10 times on the year and has one double-double. He became the 48th member of Arizona’s 1,000-point club in mid-January, scoring in double figures in 28 of 31 regular-season games. His 500 points on the season mark the third-best single-season total in Miller’s tenure.

Johnson was named Pac-12 Player of the Year, first-team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Defensive Team on Monday, as well as USBWA District IX Player of the Year on Tuesday. He was the Most Outstanding Player at the NIT Season Tip-Off, and has been named semifinalist for the Naismith Trophy and a finalist for both the Wooden Award and Robertson Trophy.
