TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona Men’s Tennis Program netted one second team all-academic, and two honorable mention awards, Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott announced Thursday morning.

Senior Kieren Thompson (Brisbane, Australia) received second team all-academic. Junior Sumeet Shinde (Pune, India) and senior Mario Urquidi (El Paso, Texas) were chosen as honorable mention.

These three student athletes were selected based upon their significant contributions to the team this season, while maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA.

This is Thompson and Urquidi’s third consecutive nomination receiving all-academic honors, both receiving honorable mention last season. Shinde was also recognized last season earning Pac-12 second team all-academic, leaving this years honor to be his second consecutive nomination.

“I am extremely proud of these student athletes,” said head coach Tad Berkowitz. “All of these guys have worked very hard in the classroom and they definitely deserve this type of recognition.”
