2013: Indoors, as a junior, Hasslen earned the first All-America honors of her career at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships where she took fourth place in the shot put … She had a toss of 57-3 (17.45m), the second-best throw of the indoor season for Hasslen … Hasslen earned a runner-up finish to teammate Julie Labonté in the shot put at the MPSF Championships with a mark of 56-4.5 (17.18m) … In seven meets during the indoor season, Hasslen never finished worse than fourth place … Her personal-best mark of 57-4.25 (17.48m) came at the Don Kirby Open and it was good for first place … Outdoors, as a senior, Hasslen’s season-best mark during the collegiate season was 56-6 (17.22m) in the shot put and it came at the Mt. SAC Relays … She took second place at the Pac-12 Championships behind Labonté in the shot put with a mark of 55-9.75 (17.01m) … At the NCAA West Preliminary Round, Hasslen took fourth place in the shot put with a mark of 55-7.75 (16.96m) … At the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Hasslen took 24th place … Hasslen had a season-best toss of 59-4.75 (18.10m) at the 2013 USA Championships, … That mark was good for third place and a spot on Team USA at the 2013 IAAF World Championships … For the discus, Hasslen took sixth place at the Pac-12 Championships with a toss of 170-9 (52.04m) … She earned all-conference honors in the shot put and the discus all four years … At the NCAA West Preliminaries, Hasslen took 12th place and advanced to the NCAA Championships with a toss of 170-0 (51.82m) … She earned Second-team NCAA Outdoor All-America honors in the discus after taking 13th place with a mark of 173-3 (52.81m).
2012: Indoors, Hasslen redshirted the season … Outdoors, Hasslen set the No. 2 mark in school history and the 14th-best throw in collegiate history at the Mt. SAC Relays … She posted a personal-best mark of 60-2.5 that was good for second place in the competition … That toss was also the second-best mark in the country during the outdoor collegiate season … Hasslen earned a runner-up finish at the Pac-12 Championships in the shot put, throwing 53-3.5 … Additionally, Hasslen earned another runner-up finish at the Pac-12 Championships, posting a personal-best mark of 180-9 in the discus, the fifth-best mark in UA history … Prior to the preliminary round of the NCAA Championships, Hasslen injured her throwing hand, she attempted to compete but ended up fouling out and not advancing to the final … Although she was not completely healthy, Hasslen competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials, representing Arizona in the women’s shot put competition … Hasslen posted a mark of 55-11.75 in the preliminary round, good for a spot in the final … In the final, Hasslen’s mark of 58-2.5 was good for a sixth-place finish.
2011: Showed a world of potential in a vastly improved shot put season in 2011, setting the third-best mark in school history with a throw of 56-2 at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships … Was the Pac-10 Conference runner-up in the shot put and also earned all-conference honors with her sixth-place performance in the discus throw … Had a career best in the discus of 171-2 at the UA-ASU-NAU Double Dual, finishing fourth and earning a spot at the NCAA West Preliminary Championships in the event … Qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the shot put … Posted an indoor best of 55-5.75 at the Texas A&M Challenge.
2010: Another impressive freshman in the throws during the 2010 season ... Earned all-conference honors in both the shot put and discus throws at the Pac-10 Championships ... Was part of a 1-2-3-4 Arizona sweep, finishing second in the shot put ... Set a season-best mark in the discus with a throw of 171-3.25 to win the UA-ASU-NAU Double Dual ... Also helped Arizona sweep the shot put indoors, finishing second at the MPSF Championships.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2009 graduate of McMinnville High School, she lettered in track and field and volleyball … A three-time team captain and a four-time team MVP in track and field … A four-time all-state honoree … Won state titles in the shot put and the discus.
PERSONAL: She is the daughter of Lee Johnson and Cathy Magness … Also recruited by Oregon, Minnesota, Miami, Stanford and Penn State … A double major in family studies and human development and retail and consumer sciences.
