Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Fred Harvey is in Moscow and he is keeping a blog of sorts to keep people updated on the happenings at the 2013 IAAF World Championships. The first day of competition is August 10 while the final day is August 18.

"The internet has been down for a few days here at the hotel," Harvey said. "Nonetheless, things are going forward and the Wildcats are looking great. They took team pictures yesterday and had some very impressive training sessions today. James Eichberger did a great job in his first major world experience and we should all be very proud of his effort. Alyssa Hasslen gets going in the morning and she is very excited and feels great going into the shot put competition. Ms. Georganne Moline…well, her training session today was something that no one has ever seen. For the most part it was not good if you were just looking and didn’t understand. She couldn’t get over the first hurdle to save her life, but everyone at this level truly understood how impressive she looked…when it was all said and done some of the great athletes and coaches in the world just said, oh my goodness, what was that i just saw?! No one had ever seen a lady run that fast over three hurdles before and this is the best of the best! To say the least, she is ready to go and she has a chance!"

On Saturday, in the first round of the men's 800 meters, Eichberger clocked a time of 1:47.96 in his Mexico uniform. He finished in 34th place overall and failed to advance to the semifinal round.

Hasslen is next up for the Wildcats in the shot put. The preliminary round of the women’s shot put will take place on Aug. 11 at 10:45 a.m. in Moscow. In MST, that event will take place on Aug. 10 at 11:45 p.m. The final of the women’s shot put is set for 8:25 p.m. on Aug. 12 in Moscow. In MST, that event will begin at 9:05 a.m. on Aug. 12.
