Rosemarie Prater received her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology and Microbiology from the University of Arizona. After working as a medical technologist for ten years, it was Rosemarie's love of science and volunteering in her children's classroom that led her to obtain her Post-Baccalaureate in teaching.

Rosemarie's passion and enthusiasm to help students understand the medical field resulted in her creation of the Medical Laboratory Assisting program at Mountain View High School. As a teacher, coach, and passionate ambassador for her medical science students, Rosemarie is instrumental in providing rigorous coursework and real world experiences to prepare students for their future. In her classroom, students are busy performing diagnostic tests, phlebotomies on artificial arms, analyzing data, and training teachers and faculty on the appropriate use of Automated External Defibrillators and continuous chest compressions. Annually, students are provided a creative means to get work- based experience by running a Cholesterol Lipid-Screening Clinic. Operating as a local clinical lab, students professionally interact with community members offering valuable biometric information about their health.

As the Health Occupations Students of America advisor, Rosemarie's students have continued to receive recognition at the state and national level. Her medical knowledge and partnership with the University of Arizona, Pima Community College, and the business community continues to provide students multiple options and prepare them to move into the workforce and college with job ready skills.
