Sarah Ross obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Choral Music Education from the University of Arizona. In addition to conducting the UA Symphonic Choir and High School Outreach Choir, she operated her own piano and voice studio, acted as assistant director of the UA Middle School Choir Camp, and served as a children's choir director at St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
Sarah brings her expertise and love of the arts to her choir, musical theatre, and Freshmen Foundations classes at Marana High School. Having developed the music theory curriculum, Sarah challenges students to compose their own arrangements and compositions. From Bach and Mozart, to contemporary writers changing the musical landscape, to ethnic and multicultural styles from around the globe, students in her class truly experience the world of music. Students are encouraged daily through student-led instruction, small group, and sight-singing exercises to build their independence as a singer. In order to foster creative thought and achieve excellence in performance and academics, students are taught to be patrons of the arts through trips to the opera, the theatre, and the symphony.
Sarah's leadership and dedication extend far beyond the classroom. When she is not teaching, she is busy choreographing and directing multiple musicals, talent shows, and concerts. Her tireless commitment to the community is evident through her performances at music productions and festivals including the Marana Tree Lighting, Tucson Reid Park Zoo Holiday Lights, Founders' Day parade, and various concerts to raise money for social causes. Sarah is also a member of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra Chorus and volunteers with Tucson Refugee organizations.
