Fabienna "Nina" Godlewski earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Ball State University, an MBA in Marketing and in Quantitative Analysis and a PhD in Quantitative Analysis from the University of Cincinnati. She has been teaching for over 23 years: 15 were at the university level and the last 4 have been at Canyon del Oro High School.
Learning in Nina's classrooms is as varied as the classes she teaches. Students may be working on group activities, playing math games, or even singing math songs to help make mathematics less threatening and more understandable. Whether she is instructing seniors who are earning college credit in a dual enrollment course with Pima Community College, or assisting freshman who are struggling in Algebra, she stresses building relationships with and among students to foster their success.
Nina has been instrumental in the development of Canyon del Oro's Freshman Success Block, which is aimed at early intervention for at-risk freshman. The program incorporates career choice and decision making lessons into the mathematics and English curriculum. It is designed to help those young learners become aware of the possibilities in their lives and the importance of realizing their potential now to achieve their future goals. She is also an advisor for Link Crew, a program that helps students transition into high school by building relationships between upper-class student leaders and incoming freshman. Nina has also played an integral role in developing the school improvement plan, the curriculum for Advisory base, and an AIMS intervention program. She currently serves as the chair of the mathematics department at Canyon del Oro High School.
