Alan Myklebust Tucson Magnet High School
Alan Myklebust obtained his Bachelor's degree in English from Iowa State University and his Master's degree in Secondary/Deaf Education from the University of Nebraska. He also attended the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University to study linguistics and achieve educational administrative certifications.
Alan has been teaching at Tucson Magnet High School for 32 years. He serves as the Exceptional Education Department Chair. Alan strives to be a role model for students by forming quality relationships with them as individuals. He aims to make education relevant to the individual lives he comes in contact with and works to address the skills necessary to become a life-long learner in the 21st century by setting high expectations for students and holding them accountable for their actions. His use of creativity and sense of humor makes learning more enjoyable for his students.
At school he sponsors the American Sign Language Club and is a coach for the Tucson Area Public Schools Academic Bowl team for students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing. In the community, he serves as Vice-Chair of the Arizona Blind and Deaf Children's Foundation, is a member of Blenman/Elm Neighborhood Association, a voting member of University of Arizona Community Relations Committee, a board member of the UA Campus Arboretum, and a 10+ gallon blood donor for the American Red Cross.
