Courtney Corrigan
Amphitheater High School

Courtney Corrigan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.  After teaching at the middle school level for several years, Courtney joined the staff at Amphitheater High School where she has been teaching Freshman Foundations for three years.
Working in the middle school classroom prepared Courtney for developing and teaching the Freshman Foundations' curriculum, a course which purpose is to help freshman students make a successful transition to high school.  In her classroom, students have the opportunity to practice real world, 21st Century skills through Project Based Learning.  Courtney's students develop problem solving, communication, creativity, and time management through collaborative projects.  Whether it's creating a household budget or investigating a career path, students never have to ask, "Why do we have to learn this?"  Every lesson allows students to develop skills that make them successful while in high school and after graduation.
As Student Council Advisor, Courtney organizes campus events and community service projects like this year's "Help-A-Friend" food and clothing drive.   Through the Freshman Program Courtney has organized the annual Citizenship Day, coordinating on and off-campus community service projects for the entire freshman class.  Students have demonstrated citizenship by planting a garden at La Cima Middle School, beautifying Jacob's Park, visiting residents at Campana Del Rio Assisted Living, creating bells at Ben's Bells and volunteering at many other Tucson organizations.  Courtney has also enjoyed working as an AIMS Tutor and Athletic Events Supervisor.
