National Championships and Awards

University of Arizona

One of the greatest players in Arizona women’s tennis history, Vicky Maes was a four time All-American and the nation’s top-ranked player in 1996 and 1997. She was a three-time Pac-10 All Acadmic selection and a GTE Academic All-America choice in 1996. In 1998, Vicky was a finalist for the NCAA’s Great Eight award and won the Ruby Award, which recognizes UA’s top female student-athlete. Vicky was named to the Pac-10 All Decade team and was the 1996 Arizona Women’s Sports Foundation College Athlete of the Year.

Vicky was the squad’s number one singles and doubles player throughout her career and was named the 1996 Pac-10 Conference Player of the year as well as being tabbed a four-time first team All-Pac-10 selection. She also won the 1995 Pac-10 Indoor Doubles Championship, the 1996 National Intercollegiate Clay Championships, and was a finalist in the 1996 National NCAA Rolex Championships and the 1997 Pac-10 Indoor Championships.

Vicky was named the head coach of The University of Arizona women’s tennis program in 2002.
