Arizona Wraps Up Fall Invitational with 10-0 Victory

TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona concluded its perfect weekend at the Fall Invitational on Sunday as the Cats run-ruled Pima 10-0 in five innings. Arizona went 5-0 at the Fall Invitational; the Wildcats have not allowed a run in seven games this fall.

Arizona pitchers struck out the first nine Pima batters of the game and did not put a ball in play until a two-out bloop single in the fourth. It ended a stretch of 36 straight batters retired by the Wildcats, 15 of which came in a perfect game vs. Scottsdale on Saturday.

In all, Taylor McQuillin, Nancy Bowling and Danielle O'Toole combined to allow one hit over five innings. The trio struck out 11 of the 16 batters they faced. McQuillin struck out all six she faced in the start.

Nine different Wildcats had hits in the game with Dejah Mulipola and Hillary Edior recording multi-hit efforts. Mulipola, Alyssa Palomino and Mo Mercado had RBI for Arizona, which scored five runs courtesy of Pima errors.

The Cats loaded the bases with no one out in the first. Mo Mercado, Jessie Harper and Katiyana Mauga drove in runs to give the Cats the early 5-0 lead.

Arizona added three more in the second, one in the fourth and walked off with one in the fifth.

Up Next: The Cats take on Central Arizona on Wednesday, Oct. 26 next Wednesday at 5 p.m. MST.
