FORT WORTH, Texas - The University of Arizona men's golf team competed in the­­­­ second day of the 2016 Nike Collegiate Golf Invitational (NCI). The Cats moved up one spot to tie for 14th with Ohio State, scoring 295-194=589 (+29).

Leading the group in the second round of play was junior Jordan Gumberg. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native carded a 72 (+2) for the second day in a row. After two days, Gumberg is tied for 32nd with a score of 72-72=144 (+4).

"Today was a little closer for our team," said head men's golf coach Jim Aderson. "I think conditions for scoring were a little more challenging this morning. We did a nice job of playing our game on the last nine holes to hold our score to par. We will finish well across the board tomorrow and build from this week. The wind is forecasted to blow so if we can demonstrate patience and composure, a good round will go a long way."

Freshman David Laskin went six-over on the round to end the day with a combined score of 72-76=148 (+8) to tie for 51st place. Junior George Cunningham is tied for 65th place with a score of 72-80=152 (+12).

Senior Redford Bobbitt and freshman Briggs Duce end the second round tied for 67th. Bobbitt has a score of 81-72=153 (+13) and Duce ends the day with a score of 79-74=153 (+13).

Briggs Duce will be the first Wildcat to tee off for the final round tomorrow at 7 a.m. MST.
