5 Sets with McKenzie Jacobson

Editor's note: "5 Sets with.." is a weekly Tuesday morning feature that focuses on one of the members of the volleyball team. Each week we will ask a member of the team five questions that provides us a little more of a personal look.

McKenzie Jacobson's list of accomplishments in volleyball is long. Like really long.

The redshirt junior out of Fresno, California was a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention selection in 2014 and 15. She was Pac-12 All-Freshmen honorable mention in 2014 and was the league's defensive player of the week in late September, 2014.

The Clovis West High school product was second on the Wildcats last season with a .271 hitting percentage and .90 blocks per set. She appeared in all 124 sets on the season and was a stalwart for coach Dave Rubio's team. As a freshman, Jacobson led the team with a .311 hitting percentage.

ArizonaWildcats.com recently sat down with Jacobson to talk about her volleyball career, how she got started and more.

First Set: How did you get started in volleyball?
"I was in the second grade and my sister was in fifth grade when she started playing volleyball in elementary school. She would come home everyday and make me practice with her so she could get better, and she taught me how to play."

Second Set: What is your favorite volleyball memory?
"I don't know if there's a particular season or set, but I just love getting to know the new teams each year, meeting new people and really becoming a family. I see these girls more than I see my own parents. I'm with them more than I go home. I think that part is the most exciting."

Third Set: What is your greatest accomplishment in volleyball?
"I had the opportunity to go to China this year with the Pac-12 team. That was a really cool experience. I'm really grateful to have gotten (the chance to go)."

Fourth Set: What is your biggest goal?
"I'm just really excited to get our whole team out there. Every week we've had a different rotation and different lineup. I think it's been a blessing in disguise because we've been able to work through different things. When everyone is able to get back on (the court) and everyone isn't injured, I'm excited for that."

Fifth Set: Do you have any pregame routines to get you and the team pumped up?
"I don't have a particular song, but our whole team listens to music in the lockerroom. We sing and dance. Then, a few minutes before the game I go and have my own quiet time and just get prepared."
