Devyn Cross, a freshman from Edwards Air Force Base, California has started off her rookie campaign in strong fashion. Cross leads the team in blocking with 75 total blocks, and 64 block assists. She is also sixth on the team with 110 kills, and boasts a strong hitting percentage of .250

The 6'0" Desert H.S. product was first-team all-conference and all-state performer, as well as playing basketball and running track in high school. Cross has seen substantial playing time as a freshman with 95 sets played, tied for second on the team.

ArizonaWildcats.com sat down with Cross to talk about her volleyball career, and the Wildcats season thus far.
 
How would you describe your first season in a Wildcat uniform?
"It's been demanding, they expect a lot from you. Even though I'm a freshman, you're expected to be on your game 24/7. The freshman excuse doesn't work, there aren't any excuses."

What is the biggest thing you have learned from Coach Rubio?
"Oh my gosh, there's so much. He's taught me that you have to keep a good mindset. You win some, you lose some. Looking forward to the next game, and moving on is really important."

Is there anyone you look up to on the team?
"I look up to the seniors on the team, it's not one particular senior but all of them. Not only how they play but how they are able to lead the team. That helps me a lot."

What is the team chemistry like on this team?
"The team chemistry is ridiculously good, I love it so much. Towards the begging of the year, I was a little iffy about everything but we've really grown together. The chemistry is really good, everyone works well with each other, and there's a really good bond."

What is the biggest thing you would like to improve on individually moving forward?
"My blocking, making sure I'm doing what I need to do in practice. Pretty much everything, there's always room for improvement but blocking is my focus."
