COUNTDOWN TO CACTUS KICKOFF IS ON
We're less than three weeks away from the Cactus Kickoff vs. BYU at University of Phoenix Stadium, which has prompted us to play a little game of 'Did You Know.' Did you know, the last time Arizona played a football game in the Valley that wasn't a bowl game or a game against our rivals was 1956? That's right, it will be close to 60 years between our last regular-season, non-ASU game in the Phoenix area and the Cactus Kickoff, and we couldn't be more excited about it. Ever since I came to Arizona, one of the questions I've been asked the most is when or if we were going to play a football game in Phoenix and now it's right around the corner.
Ticket sales on the Arizona side of University of Phoenix Stadium are on the rise, but we still have some ground to make up on our BYU counterparts. It's time for Arizona fans to rally. This game is extremely important for the growth of our football program. It can help us increase our profile across the landscape of college football and could also be a nice boost in recruiting.
For our fans in the Valley, this is something you've been waiting on for a long time. We ask you to come down to Tucson to help support the Wildcats each fall and now you have a chance to do so in your own backyard. For our great fans in Tucson, this is a chance to hit a neutral-site game less than two hours away. We need you to be there to help turn UOP Stadium into #OURHOUSE.
Tickets start at just $25 and you'll be able to watch your Wildcats in the comfort of a climate-controlled NFL Stadium. Don't let this opportunity slip by. For Tucson fans, we added another bus to the "reverse Cat Cruiser" because of demand. Reserve your spot and enjoy the ride without having to worry about parking.
You can find all the information you need on the game, including pregame events, bus transportation and tickets at ArizonaWildcats.com/cactuskickoff.
CORDES A PART OF U.S. GOLD MEDAL 400 MEDLEY RELAY TEAM
Letterwinner Kevin Cordes, who is a six-time National Champion and two-time NCAA Swimmer of the Year, added another accolade to his storied career, when he helped the U.S. win gold in the 4x100-meter medley relay at the ongoing Summer Olympics. Kevin swam the breaststroke leg in the prelims as the U.S. qualified second for the final, which it went on to win. With the addition of this gold medal, Wildcats have produced 36 gold medals and 74 medals overall.
One other Olympic note we want to pass along. Earlier this week, we were made aware that women's golf letterwinner Alejandra Llaneza is representing Mexico in the singles stroke play tournament in Rio. She started her tournament earlier today.
Congratulations Kevin on your outstanding achievement and a Bear Down to all of our Wildcats who have either competed or are competing in Rio. For more info on our Wildcats in the Olympics, visit our Olympics page by clicking HERE.
			FOOTBALL SEASON TICKET HOLDER GIFTS
Football season tickets arrived in the mail for many of you last week. We received a few questions about season ticket holder gifts. If you purchased your tickets prior to the May 1 deadline, you were eligible to receive a free gift based on the number of tickets purchased. Those gifts will be shipping by the end of the month. Our friends at Garment Graphics are helping us with the fulfillment. They are available to assist and can be reached at (520) 545-1222.
			SOCCER SEASON OPENER THIS SUNDAY
Last Friday, our soccer team defeated NAU 1-0 in their lone exhibition match of the season. We had a terrific crowd that night. We're looking for a big crowd again Sunday night for the 2016 regular-season opener. The Wildcats will host Utah Valley Sunday at 6 p.m. Soccer is hosting a special "Welcome to Campus" pregame tailgate for ZonaZoo members. A limited amount of food and beverages will be available. In addition, a shuttle will run from Old Main to transport students to Mulcahy Stadium. Single-game tickets start at $8 for online and advance sales, and season tickets are still available too. Click HERE to buy online.
A reminder to our soccer season ticket holders. One of your benefits is the ability to receive free parking in the lot across from the field. Non season ticket holders pay $5 per vehicle. Space is limited, so it's on a first-come, first-served basis. Arrive early to guarantee you have a spot. See you Sunday night!
			ALL-IN-ONE BOOKLETS
All-in-one booklets for football season ticket holders/Wildcat Club members are in the mail! Please be on the lookout for your "keys" to #OURHOUSE in the next couple of weeks. When you receive your booklet, make sure to take a look inside. You'll find everything you need to kick off another year of Arizona Football. As a reminder, these booklets include your football season tickets, and if you are a member, your Wildcat Club benefits based on giving level (ie. parking, Stadium Club wristbands, luggage tag, window decal and more).
If you are a Wildcat Club member without football season tickets, you'll receive your benefits packet in the next few weeks as well. We're looking forward to another exciting year of Arizona Athletics!
			COMPLIANCE CORNER
Monday kicks off the start of another school year and several of our fall sports will be hosting events on our campus in the weeks and months ahead. The University of Arizona becomes more visible during these events because we invite a large number of prospective student-athletes to campus for official and unofficial visits. As much as we appreciate our enthusiastic and passionate fan base, it is important to remind all of our supporters that NCAA rules prevent you from contacting recruits or their families about Arizona Athletics. In today's world of social media, we must reinforce that all forms of recruiting communication (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and any others) with any of our potential recruits is impermissible. What you can do is fly a UA flag and wear the colors to show them why this is Wildcat Country. If you have any questions, please contact the Compliance Office at (520) 621-4796.
