Tucson, Ariz. -- Arizona's incoming 2016 recruiting class was ranked as the fourth-best in the nation in Collegiate Baseball's annual rankings, released Monday morning. 
The 16-person class features six players taken in June's Major League Baseball Draft. High schoolers Nick Quintana (11th round, Boston Red Sox), Cameron Cannon (21st round, Arizona Diamondbacks), Matthew Frazier (38th round, Oakland A's) and Shane Martinez (39th round, Oakland A's) joined junior college transfers Cal Stevenson (36th round, Los Angeles Dodgers) and Cory Voss (37th round, Washington Nationals) as future Cats taken in the draft. However, all six turned down the opportunity to start their professional careers, instead opting to attend Arizona and headline a deep recruiting class for coach Jay Johnson. 
"We are honored to receive this ranking from Collegiate Baseball," Johnson said. "We are excited about how this class came together in one year's time, and believe these players will mix well in terms of ability and chemstiry with our returning players. We are excited to help each of them develop to their full potential and move them toward their dream of becoming Major League players."
Johnson's class of 16 includes seven high school players, eight junior college transfers and one Division I transfer. Jason Seever, the Division I transfer from Santa Clara University, will sit out the upcoming season and be eligible for competition in 2018. Johnson expects the rest of the group to have solid careers as Wildcats. 
"I think there is a good blend of immediate impact and future potential that will serve our team well in 2017 and the future," Johnson said. "I am thankful to our coaching staff for the work that they put in for putting this class together.
