Top Recruit Csenge Furak Signs NLI to Play for Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – Head coach Vicky Maes has received an NLI from top recruit Csenge Furak, a native from Hungary. Furak will join Arizona in the fall of 2018.

"Csenge Furak is an excellent addition to the Wildcat family," said Maes. "She was highly recruited by many major universities and we were thrilled to get her to visit our campus. Once she was here, there was an immediate connection with the team and the culture of Arizona. She just fit."

Furak was being recruited by many colleges but took her visits to Virginia Tech, Fresno State, Iowa, Mississippi State, and Arizona. "I chose the University of Arizona because of the coaches and the amazing atmosphere," said Furak. "Everybody is very ambitious to help the players reach their goals."

Furak is an accomplished international junior tennis player, reaching an ITF junior singles ranking as high as 197. Just recently, on the WTA tour, Furak advanced to the round of 16 at a $15K event in Israel. She is also very successful in doubles. In 2016, she won the doubles title at a Grade 3 ITF in Tunisia. That same year, she reached the finals in another Grade 2 ITF doubles event.

"Csenge is an all-around player with lots of international playing experience," said Maes. "She is a competitor and a fighter. She is a proud young woman who will bring a lot of heart to the program. I expect she will have an immediate impact but she also has a good amount left to grow, a very exciting prospect for a coach."
