TUCSON, Ariz. – On Wednesday, Feb. 15, the Arizona men's golf team will compete in the 41st edition of the John Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Hawai'i. The tournament will be played at the 6,991 yard, par 72 Wailua Golf Course. The three-day competition is set to begin on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. MST with 18 holes played each day.
"Hawaii is a special trip," said head coach
Jim Anderson. "We get to experience golf courses unique to competitive golf. Also, the cultural experience is outstanding because our team spends an entire week together in a distant place. After exploring, acclimating and practicing in Kauai, the next challenge is moving to a competitive mindset for the event. We have a great course and tough competition waiting for us starting Wednesday. That said, I believe this team has the confidence, discipline, patience and ability to post three great team scores. We are looking forward to a full week."
Making the 3,000 mile trip to Lihue will be juniors
George Cunningham and
Jordan Gumberg, freshmen
David Laskin and
Briggs Duce, and sophomore
Dylan Stein. Freshman
Brad Reeves will compete in the John Burns Intercollegiate as an individual.
In his last outing at the John Burns Intercollegiate in 2015,
George Cunningham finished tied for fourth place with a score of 212 (-4).
The Cats will be competing alongside 17 schools, including fellow Pac-12 members: California, Utah, Washington and Washington State.
