The University of Arizona women's golf team finished tied for eighth at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif on Tuesday. The Wildcats shot seven-over par on the day to finish at +27 for the tournament with a final score of 879. USC won the team competition at four-over-par. Leona Maguire of Duke, Taylor Tomlinson of Florida, and Mackenzie Raim of UNLV all tied to win the individual competition at four-under-par.
"The team continued to struggle today but Haley gave herself a chance to win the tournament," said coach
Laura Ianello. "We are taking a lot from this tournament to grow and continue to build on.
Wanasa Zhou helped today with a good even par round. We leave Friday for our next event and we need to eliminate mistakes such as three putting and increasing our fairway percentages. We are excited for the spring season."
Sophomore
Haley Moore had another great round shooting a two-under-par round of 69. Moore finished tied for fifth place at one-under-par for the tournament. Moore now has four top-10 finishes on the year, and seven on her career. Moore has finished in the top-12 in all five events so far this season, as well an impressive 70.67 scoring average.
Senior
Wanasa Zhou tied for 39
th after shooting even par for her third round and finished nine-over-par for the tournament. Sophomore
Danielle Lee carded a 74 on her final round finishing nine-over for the tournament and tying for 39
th place. Junior
Krystal Quihuis tied for 45
th after posting a round of 77. Sophomore
Gigi Stoll shot an 81 in her final round.
The Wildcats will next play in the Tulane Invitational beginning Sunday, February 19 in New Orleans, La. at the English Turn Golf Club.
