TEMPE, Ariz. – No. 8 Arizona took down rivals, Arizona State, (3-2) in its first match of the teams' road contest earlier this evening. This was the second time the Arizona teams have met this season. Arizona now holds a (2-2) record.
 
The Beach Cats got off to a strong start as the No. 5 duo of Brooke Burling and Halli Amaro took the first victory against ASU's pair, Sydney Palmer and Bethany Wedepohl, (21-19, 21-18).
 
UA would then go on to pick up another win as their No. 5 tandem of Hailey Devlin and Sam Manley defeated the Sun Devils, Kwyn Johnson and Frances Giedraitis in consecutive sets, (21-19, 21-19).
 
At the No. 2 position, Mia Mason and Kendra Dahlke fell to Madison Berridge and Oluoma Okro, (21-10, 21-14). 
 
To clinch the win against the Sun Devils, No. 3 UA pair of Olivia Macdonald and Olivia Hallaran defeated Cassidy Pickrell and Katelyn Carballo  in a hard fought battle, (22-20, 21-17).
 
The Wildcats No. 1 twin duo of Madison and McKenna Witt took the match to three sets, but fell in the third set to Bianca Arellano and Whitney Follette, (17-21, 21-15, 16-18).
 
Tomorrow, UA will begin morning play against Texas A&M Kingsville at 9 a.m. MST. To conclude the two-day tournament, Arizona will take on New Mexico at 2 p.m. MST. 
 
The match will be held at PERA Club on 1 E Continental Dr., Tempe, AZ 85281.
