TUCSON, ARIZ. – The University of Arizona men's golf team will travel to San Diego, Calif., to compete in the 10th edition of the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic co-hosted by San Diego State and the University of San Diego. The tournament is set to be played on the par-72, 7,033 yard San Diego Country Club. Competition is set to begin on Monday, March 13th with 36 holes played on day one.
"The San Diego Country Club is an outstanding course for high level amateur golf," commented head men's golf coach
Jim Anderson. "Players are rewarded with scoring opportunities when they remain patient. There are several wedge holes and reachable par-5's, but getting careless or forcing things will undoubtedly yield bogeys. The message for us this week will be patience and commitment. George (Cunningham) and Jordan (Gumberg) know what to expect and each has had a great week preparing at home. Redford (Bobbitt) also brings experience and local knowledge which will also help. I am very pleased with how coachable our team has become and David (Laskin), Briggs (Duce), and Max (Donohue) are sponges to continue learning and improving. This will be a great week for us and it has already been fun getting on the road together for spring break."
Making the trip to San Diego will be juniors
George Cunningham and
Jordan Gumberg, freshmen
David Laskin and
Briggs Duce, and senior
Redford Bobbitt. Junior
Max Donohue will make season debut competing as an individual.
The first round is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. PST. Live scoring for the two day competition will be conducted on golfstat.com.
