TUCSON, Ariz. – After winning two out of three games at the Frisco Classic, the Arizona Wildcats surged in various national polls, entering the top ten in multiple rankings.

The Cats, 10-1, started 10-0 for the first time since 1999, and are ranked No. 4 in the new Collegiate Baseball Top 30. The Cats received 489 points, just three behind No. 3.

Arizona also entered the top 10 of the D1Baseball.com poll for the first time this season at No. 9. Coach
Jay Johnson's team went up five spots from No. 14 last week. Arizona's biggest jump in a poll came in the Baseball America Top 25, where the team rose from No. 19 to No. 11, the highest it's been in that poll this season.
Also Monday, the NCAA released its first RPI rankings of the season with the Wildcats at No. 1 through the first three weeks of the season.Â

At 10-1, the Cats now stay on the road to play at Texas Tech on Tuesday night. The Red Raiders are ranked No. 6 in the D1Baseball.com poll after picking up a walk-off win over LSU on Sunday. Arizona and Texas Tech play Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., MST. It was just announced the game will be televised on Fox Sports Arizona Plus.

In Johnson's second season, the Cats have thrived at the plate, batting .354 as a team, which is third-best in the nation. Arizona also has 36 doubles on the season, which is also third-best in the country. The Cats currently have four players – Nick Quintana,
Mitchell Morimoto,
Jared Oliva and
JJ Matijevic—who have started all 11 games and batting better than .400 on the season. Morimoto is leading the way with a .465 average. Quintana is two points behind at .463.

The Cats are also off to a strong start on the mound, with
JC Cloney and
Cameron Ming leading the way there. Neither pitcher has allowed an earned run yet this season in 32 combined innings.

Following their game against Texas Tech, the Wildcats will return home for a three-game series against Hartford at Hi Corbett Field. First pitch Friday is set for 6 p.m.
