TUCSON, Ariz. – The Wildcats (25-22, 3-16 Pac-12) fell in the first game of the series to Oregon State, 9-4.
Olivia DiNardo and
Dakota Kennedy each had two hits for Arizona.
Carlie Scupin made her first appearance back in the lineup after breaking her forearm in March and drew two walks.
Oregon State took an early 5-0 lead with a solo home run in the second and a four-run third inning.
In the bottom of the fourth,
Paige Dimler hit her fifth home run of the season to bring the Cats within two runs.
The Beavers scored one run in the fifth on an RBI hit-by-pitch but DiNardo answered with an RBI double to make it a 6-4 game.
In the seventh, Oregon State scored three runs to extend their lead to 9-4.
Starter
Devyn Netz took the loss to fall to 12-14. She pitched 2.2 innings, giving up five runs on eight hits.
Sydney Somerndike entered in relief and gave up one run in 2.1 IP.
Aissa Silva entered in the sixth inning, giving up three runs before
Brianna Hardy pitched the final 0.2 innings to close out the game.
