Mission
The mission of the University of Arizona Cheerleaders & Mascots is to promote school spirit through cheering, motions, tumbling skills, coed partner stunts, dance, and interactive crowd participation. Team members represent the University of Arizona student body and alumni at University athletic events, functions and public appearances.
Membership
The University of Arizona Cheerleading team is a non-competitive, co-ed, partner stunt squad that cheers at football, Men's and Women's basketball, and Women's volleyball games. The number of members on the team varies from 18-30 people (9-15 couples).
Commitment
Participating in Cheer & Mascots at the University of Arizona requires a significant time commitment. Due to the large number of athletic sporting events and public appearances, our philosophy is that cheer/mascots comes second only to academics. Pre-season training camp is mandatory for all team members from mid-July to mid-August. The season typically ends March/April, depending on post-season basketball tournament. The team practices 3x per week and lifts 2-3x per week. In order to pursue excellence, dedication and commitment must be a priority!
Through dedication and hard work the University of Arizona Cheerleaders have become an integral part in the strong tradition of excellence exhibited by athletics at The University of Arizona.
Benefits
Team members have the opportunity to travel for away and post-season Football games, select pre-season and post-season Men's and Women's Basketball, and Volleyball Final Four. Members of the University of Arizona Cheerleading and Mascot program receive uniforms, Nike attire, and equipment at no charge. The Cheerleaders & Mascots have full use of Arizona Athletics facilities, including the student-athlete strength & conditioning facility, Bear Down Kitchen, and the Kasser Medical Treatment Center. The Cheerleading & Mascot program does not offer academic scholarships at this time.
