At the 1982 National Collegiate Championships (AIAW), she Candy won the duet event with Tracy Ruiz and was named All-American. She went on the win gold medals in duet at the 1981 and 1982 Pan American Games and at the 1982 Moscow Invitational. At the 1984 Olympic games on Los Angeles, she won the gold medal in the duet event with Tracy Ruiz.
