The University of Arizona Wildcat men's and No. 7 women's track and field teams both have athletes competing in the 2013 NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas.
The University of Arizona men's and No. 7 women's track and field program will host the 2013 Tucson Elite Classic on Thursday and Saturday at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.
Junior Lawi Lalang was named Men's National Athlete of the Week and senior Brigetta Barrett received the same honor for the women after their outstanding performances at the Pac-12 Championships.
The Pac-12 Championships will take place on May 11-12 at USC's Cromwell Field and Katherine B. Loker Stadium.

2012 International: Barrett competed in the women's high jump at the U.S. Olympic Trials ... In the preliminary round, Barrett cleared 6-0, tying for first and clinching a spot in the final ... She returned to the track for the final and set a then-personal best of 6-7, good for a silver medal and a trip to London for the Olympics ... During the preliminary round of the Olympics, Barrett cleared 6-4, tying for second place and earning a spot in the final ... She had a personal-best clearance of 6-8, the best jump ever by a collegiate athlete in the women's high jump ... Barrett won the silver medal and became the first track and field athlete from Arizona to medal in the Olympics since Michael Bates and Sandra Farmer-Patrick in 1992 ... Barrett was also the first U.S. athlete to medal in the women's high jump since Louise Ritter in 1988.
2012: Indoors, Barrett posted a personal-best mark of 6-5.5 at the Razorback Invitational, good for first place, the school record and the second-best jump in indoor collegiate history ... She won her second-straight MPSF Championship, setting a meet record with her clearance of 6-4 ... Barrett also won her second-straight NCAA Championship with a clearance of 6-5 ... Outdoors, Barrett cleared 6-4 or better on six different occasions with a season-best mark of 6-4.75 ... She won her second-straight Pac-12 Championship as well as her second-straight NCAA Outdoor Championship ... She became the first in woman in DI history to earn dual-season titles in back-to-back years, a combination of four consecutive national titles between the seasons ... Dating back to 2011, Barrett has won 17-straight competitions versus collegiate competition.
2011 International:Won gold in the high jump at the World University Games in Shenzhen, China in August, 2011 ... Cleared a personal-best height of 6-5 ... Ranks as the No. 2 jump in UA school history ... Finished 10th in the high jump at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea ... Clearing 6-4 in the finals, she jumped 6-4.75 to tie for first in the prelims.
2011:Claimed the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor titles in the high jump as well at the U.S. Championships crown in the event ... 2010:Won the MPSF Indoor Championship in the high jump with a clearance of 6-2.25 to make it a 1-2 sweep for the Wildcats with teammate Liz Patterson finishing second ... Went on to finish third at the NCAA Indoor Championships and earned All-America honors with a jump of 6-0.5 ... Outdoors, she finished third at the Pac-10 Championships and earned her second All-America award at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a seventh-place finish ... After the collegiate season, Barrett competed at the USA Outdoor Championships and finished third with a clearance of 6-3.25.
HIGH SCHOOL:One of the top high jumpers in the nation during her high school career ... Set a school record of 6-1 during her time at Duncanville High School (Texas) ... Won the Texas State Meet in 2008 and 2009 ... Also the Texas Relays Champion in the event in 2008 ... Finished second at the World Junior Qualifiers ... Also competed for Roy C.
