Romero Wins Four Events At Jim Click Shootout

Junior Shapri Romero highlighted an outstanding day for Arizona's track and field program. She won the 200 meters, 400 meters and was part of the 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay teams that were victorious.

Romero Wins 200 Meters, Leads Off 4x400 Victory

Junior Shapri Romero won the 200-meter dash on Saturday at the Stanford Invitational and lead off for the 4x400-meter relay team that also took first place.

2012: Indoors, Garland set a personal-best time of 24.48 in the 200-meter dash at the Boise State Team Challenge, good for sixth place ... Also at the Boise State Team Challenge, Garland clocked a personal-best time of 54.82 in the 400-meter run, taking third place ... Garland took fourth place at the NAU Open, running 400 meters in 55.02 ... Garland was a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that set the school record ... At the MPSF Championships, the quartet of Shapri Romero, Garland, Ariel Coleman and Echos Blevins clocked a time of 3:36.13, good for second place ... Outdoors, Garland's progression during the indoor season suffered a setback due to health related issues ... She clocked a personal-best time of 24.93 in the 200-meter dash at the Mt. SAC Relays ... Also at the Mt. SAC Relays, Garland posted a personal-best time of 56.19 in the 400-meter run ... As a member of the 4x100-meter relay team, Garland earned all-conference honors in the event ... BEFORE ARIZONA: A sprinter from Inglewood, Calif. (Inglewood High School) and transferred to Arizona from El Camino Community College in Los Angeles, Calif. ... Concluded a tremendous career at ECC winning both the 400 meters in 54.47 (remaining undefeated) and the 200 meters in 24.38 at the California Junior College State Championships ... Also the ECC school record holder at 200 meters (23.88) and 400 meters (54.12).
