XC Women Win Grand Canyon Invitational

The 14th-ranked women won the 5,000-meter race and the men took second in the 8,000-meter race.

Cross Country Set For Grand Canyon Invitational

The women's 5,000-meter race will start at 8 a.m. and the men will run 8,000 meters at 8:45 a.m.

2012: Did not compete during the indoor season ... Outdoors, of the five meets Howard participated in, she finished in the top 10 three times ... At the Williams Classic, Howard took fourth place in the 5K, posting a time of 18:00.38 ... She finished in 10th place at the Jim Click Shootout, setting a personal-best time of 10:41.94 in the 3K ... At the Sun Angel Classic, Howard clocked a personal-best time of 17:45.07, good for 14th place in the 5,000-meter race ... She also set a personal best in the 10,000-meters, running 36:20.99 at the Mt. SAC relays.

2011 (XC): She competed in three meets for the Wildcats ... She clocked a time of 18:43.3 in the 5K race at the George Kyte Classic, earning an 18th-place finish ... She came in 22nd place at the Dave Murray Invitational, clocking a time of 18:30 in the three-mile race ... At the Grand Canyon Invitational, her time of 19:06.3 in the 5,000-meter race was good for 12th place.

2011: Did not compete during the indoor season ... Outdoors, running the 3,000 meters, Howard finished 16th with a time of 11:06.22 at the Jim Click Shootout ... At the Willie Williams Classic, she ran the 5K in 18:46.11, good for a sixth-place finish.

2010 (XC): At the George Kyte Classic hosted by NAU, she ran the 5,000 meters in 18:58.2 and earned a ninth-place finish ... Running at the Dave Murray Invitational, she clocked a time of 18:51.2 in the three-mile run and finished in 16th place ... She placed fifth at the Desert Twilight Festival with a time of 19:01.5 in the three-mile race.

2010: Redshirted the season.

2009 (XC): In her only appearance of the season at the Dave Murray Invitational, she ran three miles in 18:44.0.

HIGH SCHOOL: A graduate of Ironwood Ridge High School, she was team captain her senior year ... Named Arizona 5A All-Region and All-State her senior year.

PERSONAL: She is the daughter of Richard and Theresa Howard ... Her brother, Michael, was on the cross country and track and field teams at Arizona ... Majoring in nutritional sciences with a minor in chemistry.
