The University of Arizona Wildcat men's and No. 7 women's track and field teams both have athletes competing in the 2013 NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas.
Junior Shapri Romero highlighted an outstanding day for Arizona's track and field program. She won the 200 meters, 400 meters and was part of the 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay teams that were victorious.
2012: Indoors, he ran the mile at the Razorback Invitational in 4:20.10 ... He competed in the 3,000-meter run at the Husky Classic, taking 22nd place with a time of 8:23.61 ... Outdoors, He finished in 13th place at the Willie Williams Classic in the 1,500-meter run, clocking a time of 4:01.98 ... At the UA-ASU-NAU Double Dual, Macaluso clocked a personal-best time of 8:55.07 in the 3,000-meter race, good for eighth place.
2011 (XC): He competed in the 8,000-meter race at the George Kyte Classic, posting a time of 28:16.7, good for a 21st-place finish ... He ran 4.25 miles in 22:38 at the Dave Murray Invitational ... He took 21st place at the Grand Canyon Invitational, running the 8K in 26:23.9 ... Macaluso competed in the Pac-12 Championships, clocking a time of 26:14 in the 8,000-meter race.
BEFORE ARIZONA: Spent the 2010-11 season at Syracuse and redshirted.
HIGH SCHOOL: At West Windsor-Plainsboro South, Macaluso was the cross country team captain his senior year and the MVP his junior and senior years ... He holds the school for the 1,600-meter run.
