Cross Country Season Recap

The women's cross country team finished in sixth place at the NCAA Championships while Stephen Sambu and Lawi Lalang earned a 2-3 finish.

2012: Redshirted the indoor and outdoor season.

2011 (XC): Valente competed in the 8,000-meter run at the George Kyte Classic, clocking a time of 29:38.6 ... He took 12th place at the Grand Canyon Invitational, running 8,000 meters in 25:59.8.

HIGH SCHOOL: A graduate of Cathedral Catholic High School, Valente was the team captain and MVP his sophomore, junior and senior years ... He was first team all-conference all four years, and first-team all-city his junior and senior seasons ... Holds school records in the 800 meters, 1,600 meters and the 3,200 meters.

PERSONAL: He is the son of Thomas and Kimberly Valente ... Has a brother, James, and a sister, Jennifer.
