LONDON - University of Arizona Wildcat Georganne Moline competed in the first round of the women’s 400-meter hurdles in London’s Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

Moline won heat four in the first round of the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 54.31. She clocked the fourth-best time overall in the first round. That is the fifth time Moline has broken her own school record in 2012. She previously set the school record with a time of 54.33 on July 1 in Eugene, Ore. Moline has clocked personal-best times in her last three races, dating back to the semifinal round of the event at the U.S. Olympic Trials.

“Georganne was fantastic today,” head coach Fred Harvey said. “She is so fit right now and feels really good about herself, she is racing with the best people in the world. Right now, the way she looks and the way she feels… first things first, we need to get through the semifinal, but she is definitely somebody to be reckoned with. She is getting it done in a big way; she is running like she belongs in this big arena, which is really exciting to see. We are definitely looking forward to that semifinal tomorrow.”

“I’m excited for tomorrow,” Moline said. “It was just the first round, so I wasn’t trying to PR (personal record) or anything. It was pretty smooth, and there were a few hurdles that I need to focus more on so I have a more clean race tomorrow. I actually felt more relaxed coming out here; I thought I would feel more nervous. I’ve never been to a meet with a crowd like this. It definitely relaxed me and I was excited.”

Moline will compete in the semifinal of the event on Monday at 12:15 p.m. MST.
