The No. 14 men's and No. 11 women's track and field teams will begin competition on Friday at 12 p.m. PST and at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

TUCSON - The University of Arizona Wildcats No. 14 men's and No. 11 women's track and field teams will begin the championship portion of the indoor season on Friday and Saturday, February 22-23. The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships will be hosted by the University of Washington and will take place in Seattle, Wash. Competition on Friday will begin at 12 p.m. PST and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. In 2012, the women's squad earned a runner-up finish at the MPSF Championships for the second-straight year while the men took fourth place.
Arizona will be matched up against Arizona State, BYU, California, Cal State Northridge, Colorado, Hawaii, Long Beach State, Oregon, Stanford, UC Irvine, UCLA, Utah, Washington and Washington State.
In the 2013 USTFCCCA week five national poll, the Arizona men went from unranked to No. 14 while the women stayed in the No. 11 spot. Two other Pac-12 schools join the Arizona men in the national poll. Oregon is 11th and Arizona State is 15th.
On the women's side, Arizona is accompanied by three other Pac-12 schools. Oregon is No. 2, Arizona State is No. 8 and Stanford is No. 16.
On Friday, the men's slate will consist of junior Keegan Cooke who is the lone Wildcat competing in the heptathlon. The first of four events on Friday for Cooke will start at 2 p.m. Senior Tyler Johnson will compete in the men's weight throw at 5:15 p.m. The men's distance medley relay (1,200M, 400M, 800M, mile) will be run by junior Lawi Lalang, sophomore Branden Helms, junior Braden Timpe and sophomore Sam Macaluso at 7:25 p.m.
On Saturday, Cooke will finish the final three events of the heptathlon; starting 10:30 a.m. Junior Sean Delfani will run the 400 meters at 12:05 p.m. along with senior Clifton Leake. Senior Edgar Rivera Morales, freshman Jonny Giess and sophomore Jovon Cunningham will compete in the high jump at 12:45 p.m. Cunningham is also entered in the triple jump competition, set to start at 1 p.m. Junior Lawi Lalang is set to compete in the 800-meter run at 1 p.m. The quartet of Delfani, Leake, junior Neil Houlihan and freshman Bernard Dickerson-Quinn will run the 4x400-meter relay at 2:40 p.m.
On the women's side for Friday, senior Taylor Freeman and sophomore Baillie Gibson are set to compete in the weight throw at 12 p.m. Junior Amber Passalaqua will compete in the pentathlon, beginning with her first of five events on Friday at 12:15 p.m. Freshman Traci-Lynn Hicks will run the preliminary round of the 60-meter hurdles at 4:30 p.m. Juniors Germe Poston and Tamara Pridgett will run in the preliminary round of the 60-meter dash at 5 p.m. Senior Jen Bergman and sophomore Stephanie Bulder are set to compete in the 5K at 5:40 p.m. Junior Shapri Romero and Poston will both run the 200 meters at 6:20 p.m. The women's distance medley relay team will consist of freshman Hanna Peterson, junior Shale' Garland, sophomore Nicci Corbin and sophomore Kate Penney.
On Saturday, the women begin with Freeman, senior Julie Labonté, senior Omotayo Talabi, junior Alyssa Hasslen and Gibson throwing the shot at 10:30 a.m. Also at 10:30 a.m. is the high jump competition, featuring senior Brigetta Barrett and sophomore Shakayla McEaddy. Corbin will run the mile at 11 a.m. Romero and Garland will compete in the 400-meter run at 11:40 a.m. Senior Georganne Moline is set to run the 800 meters at 12:40 p.m. Bergman is set to return to the track for the 3,000-meter race at 1:20 p.m. The quartet of Romero, Garland, Pridgett and Moline will compete in the 4x400-meter relay at 2:25 p.m.
