TUCSON - The Arizona Wildcat No. 12 men's and No. 14 women's track and field teams will compete in three events this weekend. The Stanford Invitational will take place in Palo Alto, Calif. at Cobb Track and Angell Field on April 6-7. The Mesa Classic, hosted by Mesa Community College will occur on Friday at Riggs Stadium in Mesa, Ariz. Arizona State's Sun Angel Classic will be on April 6-7 at Sun Angel Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. At the Stanford Invitational, competition is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. MST on Friday and resumes at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. MST on Friday at the Mesa Classic. The Sun Angel Classic is set to start at 12:00 p.m. MST on Friday and Saturday.

The No. 12 Arizona men and No. 14 women will compete against a multitude of teams at the Stanford Invitational. Arkansas (M: 4, W: 6), Baylor (M: 13, W: 17), BYU (M: NR, W: 24), Florida State (M: 3, W: 22), Iowa (M: 18, W: NR), Kansas (M: 25, W: 9), Southern California (M: 8, W: 4), Stanford (M: 19, W: 20) and many others.

At the Sun Angel Classic, Arizona will compete against Arizona State (M: 10, W: 19), Cal St. Fullerton, Central Arizona, Colorado State, Georgetown, Glendale CC, Iowa State, Kansas State, Midwestern St., Nebraska (M: 15 W: NR), New Mexico, New Mexico St., North Dakota St., Northern Arizona, Oklahoma (M: 23, W: 7), Purdue, Southern Utah, UC Riverside, UC San Diego and Wyoming. At the Mesa Classic, UA will compete against other teams from the region.

In the current 2012 USTFCCCA national poll, the Arizona men sit at the No. 12 spot and the women are 14th. The UA men are joined by four other Pac-12 schools in the national poll. Southern California moved up five spots to No. 8, Arizona State climbed 10 spots to No. 10, Oregon stayed at 16th and Stanford fell two spots to 19th. On the women's side, four fellow Pac-12 schools accompany Arizona in the national poll. Oregon remains at No. 1, Southern California dropped a spot to No. 4, Arizona State fell two spots to No. 17 and Stanford moved up one spot to 20th. In the NCAA West Region, the UA men are fifth and the men are second.

Senior Taylor Bush will compete in the women's hammer throw at the Mesa Classic and Sun Angel Classic. Juniors Alyssa Hasslen and Taylor Freeman will throw the discus at the Mesa Classic. Freeman and Hasslen will both throw the shot put and discus at the Sun Angel Classic. Freeman will also compete in the hammer throw at the Sun Angel Classic. Junior Tyler Johnson will compete in the men's hammer throw at the Mesa Classic and Sun Angel Classic. Senior Abdi Hassan will run the 800-meter race at the Sun Angel Classic.

At the Stanford Invitational, junior Chris McSwain will run the 100 meters and 200 meters. Junior James Eichberger will compete in the 800-meter run. Sophomore Lawi Lalang will run in the 1,500-meter race. Senior Stephen Sambu will compete in the 5K. Arizona will run the 4x100-meter relay with freshman Thomas Moronta, McSwain, sophomore Sean Delfani and junior Clifton Leake. The quartet of Leake, McSwain, junior James Eichberger and Delfani will compete in the 4x400-meter relay. Juniors Nick Ross and Edgar Rivera-Morales will compete in the high jump. Freshman Jovon Cunningham will compete in the high jump and triple jump.

For the women, senior Echos Blevins, junior Shale' Garland, sophomore Tamara Pridgett, sophomore Germe Poston and sophomore Shapri Romero will compete in the 200-meter dash. Blevins, Garland and Romero will also compete in the 400 meters. Junior Jen Bergman and sophomore Elvin Kibet will compete in the 5,000-meter race and the 10,000-meter race. Junior Georganne Moline will run the 400-meter hurdles. Moline is owner of the best time 400-meter hurdles time in the country at 56.02. Arizona's quartet of sophomore Pridgett, Garland, senior Dahlys Marshall and Poston will run the 4x100-meter relay. The 4x400-meter relay team will consist of Romero, Blevins, Garland and Moline. Junior Brigetta Barrett will compete in the high jump. She currently boasts the best mark in the country at 6-4.25 (1.94m).
