MPSF All-Academic Selections Announced

 TUCSON -  The University of Arizona Wildcat men's and women's track and field teams were well represented on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) All-Academic teams for the 2012 indoor track and field season. The Wildcats had 17 student-athletes earn All-Academic accolades. The honorees were announced by the conference office this week.

For the men, five Wildcats earned All-Academic accolades, junior Edgar Rivera-Morales (3.44 GPA), junior James Eichberger (3.23 GPA), sophomore Lawi Lalang (3.11 GPA), sophomore Bozidar Antunovic (3.00) and junior Kevin Jani (3.00).

UA had 12 women earned All-Academic distinctions. The MPSF awarded sophomore Alex Weatherly (4.00 GPA), sophomore Erin Menefee (4.00 GPA), sophomore Tamara Pridgett (3.86 GPA), sophomore Elvin Kibet (3.78 GPA), senior Liana Fuentes (3.64 GPA), junior Melanie McGrath (3.60 GPA), junior Brigetta Barrett (3.51 GPA), junior Taylor Freeman (3.49 GPA), junior Jen Bergman (3.13 GPA), sophomore Germe Poston (3.07), senior Taylor Bush (3.05 GPA) and sophomore Shapri Romero (3.00 GPA).

In order to be selected to the All-Academic team, the student-athlete must have a 3.00 or better cumulative grade point average. The student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically. The student-athlete must have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award is being received. The student-athlete must have competed in fifty percent or more of the institution's competition in the student-athlete's respective sport.
