The 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Teams were announced on Thursday.

Brigetta Barrett and
Edgar Rivera-Morales, members of the University of Arizona Wildcat men's and women's track and field team, earned spots on the Capital One Academic All-America teams, it was announced on Thursday.
Barrett, a first-team selection, holds a GPA of 3.51 as a theater arts major. In 2011, Barrett was a selection of the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America Second Team. On the year, Barrett has also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention honors. Barrett is currently tied for the second-best mark in the U.S. in the high jump with a clearance of 6-4.75.
Barrett has also been named a semifinalist for The Bowerman, an award presented to collegiate track and field's best athlete of the year. Barrett is only the third woman in award history to make a second semifinalist appearance. Barrett swept NCAA high jump titles for the second-straight season in 2012. She became the first in woman in DI history to earn dual-season titles in back-to-back years, a combination of four consecutive national titles between the seasons.
Rivera-Morales, a third-team selection, holds a GPA of 3.46 as an industrial engineering major. In 2012, he has earned Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team honors and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. He was also honored in 2011 on the Academic All-District Second Team. Rivera-Morales has posted a season-best mark of 7-4.5 in the high jump.
Barrett is set to compete in the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. The preliminary portion of the high jump will take place on June 28 at 5 p.m. MST. Should she finish in the top 12 and make the final, she will jump on June 30 at 5 p.m. MST. Barrett must finish in third place or better to make Team USA for the Olympic Games. Rivera-Morales will compete in the NACAC U23 Championships, representing Mexico.
