Grand Canyon Invitational Notes 
TUCSON - The University of Arizona Wildcat No. 14 women's and unranked men's cross country teams will continue the 2011 season with the Grand Canyon Invitational on Sat., Oct. 8. Held at GCU's Estrella Mountain Regional Park, the women's 5,000 meters will start at 8 a.m. and the men's 8,000-meter race will follow at 8:45 a.m.
There are 99 total females entered and 125 total males entered in the Grand Canyon Invitational. The University of Arizona, Arizona Christian University, Arizona State, Estrella Mountain Community College, Gateway Community College, Glendale Community College, Grand Canyon, Mesa Community College, Dine College, Navajo Technical College, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Pima Community College and Scottsdale Community College will compete on Saturday.
On the women's side, freshman Daylee Burr, freshman Clea Formaz, senior Hanna Henson, junior Kat Howard, freshman Kate Penney, freshman Hanna Peterson and freshman Nicci Corbin will toe the line. For the men, redshirt freshman Sam Macaluso, junior Rory McLeod, sophomore Davis Rajs, sophomore Noe Ramirez, freshman Dylan Souza and freshman Thomas Valente will sport the Cardinal and Navy.
In the current USTFCCCA weekly national poll, the Arizona women are seated at No. 14. The Wildcats are one of six Pac-12 teams listed in the top 30 with Colorado at No. 4, Stanford at No. 6, California at No. 10, Oregon at No. 12 and Washington at No. 24. In the regional ranks, UA is one of eight Pac-12 teams listed in the West Region while Colorado leads the Mountain Region.
On the men's side, six Pac-12 teams hold a spot in the national top 30. In the NCAA West Region, the Wildcats are seated eighth and are one of eight Pac-12 teams to earn a spot. Colorado ranks No. 2 in the Mountain Region.
