Pac-12 Cross Country Awards Announced

 TUCSON -  The University of Arizona Wildcat men's and women's cross country teams were well represented on the All-Conference teams and the individual honors that were released on Wednesday by the conference office.

Sophomore Lawi Lalang was named the Pac-12 Male Athlete of the Year for the second-straight year. Lalang won the Pac-12 title, NCAA West Regional title and the USTFCCCA West Region Male Athlete of the Year for the second-straight year as well. He won four of his five races in 2012, extending his undefeated streak up to 10 before taking third place at the NCAA Championships. He was named a USTFCCCA All-American for the second-consecutive season.

Lalang and senior Stephen Sambu were both first-team all-conference honorees. This marks the second time each athlete has received first-team all-conference distinction. Lalang took first place at the Pac-12 Championships and Sambu earned a runner-up finish.

On the women's side, junior Elvin Kibet and senior Jen Bergman were first-team all-conference selections. Kibet finished in third place at the Pac-12 Championships while Bergman finished in seventh place. Kibet was a second-team all-conference honoree last year. This is the second-straight year Bergman has been a first-team all-conference honoree.

The top seven finishers at the Pac-12 Championships are named to the first team. The eighth through 14th finishers at the Conference Championships are placed on the second team.
